Skin cancer is one of the conditions our doctors see and treat most often. The Skin Clinic at Redgum brings together the people, time, and technology to do that work well, from a routine full-body check through to lesion removal and ongoing care.
Our GPs use dermoscopy for detailed lesion examination, and the FotoFinder system for full-body mole mapping. FotoFinder photographs the full skin surface so changes can be tracked accurately over time, making early detection and ongoing monitoring more reliable than visual checks alone.
This technology allows us to do a full body map of your skin to detect the first signs of skin cancer. Early diagnosis is key for managing patients who are at high risk of melanoma and other cancer. The FotoFinder gives us the power to accurately analyse skin and moles for ongoing monitoring and care.
After analysing the results of your mole scan, one of our Redgum Skin Clinic doctors will discuss any additional steps that might be required.
This historical documentation ensures that even the slightest changes to your skin over time will be recorded and a treatment plan devised by our doctors as quickly as possible.
If something needs to come off, the clinic is equipped for in-house excisions. The same team handles your post-procedure care and follow-up, keeping the whole process continuous.

Skin Clinic consultations are privately billed, with a Medicare rebate available. Your out-of-pocket cost depends on the length of your appointment and your Medicare card type.

Allow around 15 minutes for a single lesion skin check for anything you’re particularly worried about. If FotoFinder mole mapping is part of your appointment, it can take 30 mins.
For most adults, an annual check is a sensible baseline. If you have a personal or family history of skin cancer, fair skin, a lot of moles, or significant sun exposure, your doctor may recommend more frequent monitoring.
Your doctor will examine your skin from head to toe, using dermoscopy to look closely at any spots of interest. If you're having FotoFinder mole mapping, the system photographs the full skin surface so changes can be tracked over time. You'll be asked to remove clothing down to your underwear, and gowns and a chaperone are available on request.
Your doctor will discuss it with you at the appointment and explain the next steps. In many cases, suspicious lesions can be removed in-house at the clinic, with the same team handling your follow-up.
