Dr. Deepak Ghimiray
What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor?
Listening to patients’ stories through thick and thin, piecing together the jigsaw of signs and symptoms to get a clearer picture, and the satisfaction of being able to guide them to take control of their health.
Why did you choose general practice / your specialty?
Being a GP allows me to diagnose, treat, manage, and follow up on a wide range of medical conditions, providing holistic care that integrates all organ systems rather than the fragmented specialised care where different teams can end up working in isolated silos.
When did you join the practice?
I joined the Redgum Medical Group in 2026.
Can you briefly outline your previous work experience or placements?
Extensive experience as a senior registrar in intensive care medicine, anaesthesia, emergency medicine, and general medicine across regional and metropolitan tertiary hospitals.
What are your main areas of interest or specialties within medicine?
Complex medical conditions and chronic disease, advance care directives, geriatric medicine, and urgent care.
Are there particular aspects of patient care you are most passionate about?
Holistic medicine that is patient-centred, rather than treating just the numbers on a test result.
