What do you enjoy most about being a Nurse Practitioner?

What I enjoy most about being a Nurse Practitioner is using my expertise to provide support and reassurance to people in their time of need. It’s a privilege to help patients feel cared for and confident in their treatment. I’m especially passionate about building trusting relationships that allow for open, authentic conversations about health — the kind that lead to better understanding and better outcomes.

When did you join the practice?

I joined Redgum Medical Group in 2023, bringing with me a broad background in both clinical and management roles. Before moving into general practice, I worked in public hospitals, served as a GP Practice Manager, and held senior clinical positions in rural urgent care and emergency departments. My experience also includes leading a Hospital in the Home program, working in GP advanced practice roles, and deployment to a trauma centre in Iraq.

Tell us something else about yourself.

I completed my nursing training in 1995 and became an endorsed Nurse Practitioner in 2015. I’m committed to ongoing learning and keep up to date by attending after-hours education sessions and regularly reviewing medical journals.

Area of Interest:

My key areas of interest include preventative medicine, musculoskeletal injuries, minor procedures, mental health, nutrition, and teaching. I enjoy supporting patients to take an active role in their health and working with them to achieve long-term wellbeing.

Qualifications:

Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner), La Trobe University, Australia, 2014

Bachelor of Nursing, Monash University, Australia, 1995

Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Psychiatric Nursing), Monash University, Australia, 2001

Training :

While I’m not currently pursuing formal courses, I stay up to date with best practice by attending after-hours education sessions when possible and reviewing medical journals fortnightly.
